한편, 필 맥과이어 교수(메이누스아일랜드국립대학)는 로봇이 인간감정을 가질 수 없다며 주요 원인으로 컴퓨터 프로세스 체계를 꼽았다. 그는 근거로 미국 위스콘신 대학 연구팀이 지난 10년간 연구한 수학프레임워크 시뮬레이션 결과를 제시하며 “로봇의 사고기반인 컴퓨터 연산능력이 제한적이고 한정적이기 때문에 궁극적으로 인간과 유사한 사고로 이어지지 못한다”고 주장했다.
